About Dental Implants
Our team at Made Ya Smile Dental in Kingwood, TX is an experienced, multi-specialty dental team. We believe that an important part of a healthy smile is the replacement of missing or damaged teeth. When all other options have been exhausted in tooth replacement (fillings, crowns, or bridges), our dentist may recommend dental implants. Our implants are comprised of biocompatible titanium posts positioned in the jaw to act as a support for a crown, bridge, or denture restoration. We can perform single-tooth dental implants and implant-supported fixtures that can facilitate an entire arch with our dental implant restoratives. Come in for a consultation if you think a dental implant would be your next step in preserving the form and function of your teeth.
"I am extremely terrified of the dentist and the staff treated me so kindly and had extraordinary patience with me! In particular Sonia and Dr. Olson, they really helped keep me calm. It’s been over a decade since I’ve been to a dentist and with their care, I’ll be able to return and start truly taking care of my mouth. Thank you all and I highly recommend Made Ya Smile Kingwood! Should I Get Dental Implants?
If you have a severely damaged tooth from decay or injury, you may not be able to save the tooth from extraction. We offer patients with missing teeth a dental implant if there is a significant amount of healthy bone for the placement of a surgical post. It is also important to go over your medical history with our team, stop using tobacco products, and make sure you are not pregnant before implant surgery. A consultation with our Made Ya Smile Dental team can help you learn if dental implants are right for you.
What Is the Dental Implant Process?
By providing your entire dental implant procedure at our Kingwood, TX office location, this can save you time and money in the process. With our state-of-the-art 3D intraoral imaging, we will map out your implant placement. Bone loss in your jaw may need to be treated and bulked up with bone grafting. We will perform a bone graft first so that your jaw can support the surgically placed implant post. At the next appointment, you will have the implant post embedded into your gums. We do this with local anesthesia and sedation techniques to keep you comfortable. An incision will be made directly into the gum where the titanium post will go into your bone. After this process is complete, we will suture the gum tissue closed. A temporary restorative will be placed to maintain spacing, structure, and support for the neighboring teeth. In about six months, your jaw should be fused to the implant, which will make it stable for placing your fixed restorative on top of the post. The healing process is different for each patient, but we will be monitoring the healing process along the way. After the fixed restorative is placed on your post, we will make adjustments as needed.
What Happens After A Dental Implant?
You can expect our Made Ya Smile Dental team to provide you with post-op instructions on how to care for your surgical sites while you heal. We will also go over what symptoms should be reported to our team immediately (i.e., fever, infection, excessive pain, or bleeding that will not stop). Even though the restoration on top of your implant is made of the finest, medical-grade materials, you will still have some discomfort, swelling, and slight bruising in your gums and facial structures. After the healing process has ended, our hope is that you love the look of your smile with the restoratives that resemble and feel like your natural teeth.
